BEAUTIFUL POTTERY ART
SUNRISE POTTERY- Where Art meets Function – Designs by Julia Elizabeth
ARTIST STATEMENT
I design and create one of a kind, hand built functional pottery with nature and the beauty of earth as my greatest influence. I grew up in Leicestershire, England and was inspired by the work and crafts of some of the people in my life as well as the beauty of the countryside and the canals. Although I have lived in Connecticut for 40 years, my travels as a young adult throughout Europe and Australia as well as living and working in Italy made an impact on my artistic viewpoint. Over my lifetime I have worked in a number of forms of art including designing fabrics and clothing as well as sugar and cold porcelain art. In recent years I have worked exclusively on pottery and ceramic art with my skills as a sugar artist as a major influence. For me Clay is the soul of the Earth. I let the clay “speak” to me from its organic soul.
